2011 R+L Carriers Bowl to Become a Classic
Dec 15th
The Louisiana Superdome will come to life on December 17th when the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl kicks off. The San Diego State Aztecs face the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in a battle for the championship. The Aztecs come into play with an 8-4 record and a 4-3 record in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs average 29.8 points per game on offense while allowing 24.4 points per game on defense.
The Aztecs are headed up by senior QB Ryan Lindley (2,740 yards – 52.5 completion pct – 20 td’s / 8 int – 122.9 rating). The running game is in great hands with star sophomore RB Ronnie Hillman (287 carries – 1,656 yards – 19 td’s). Hillman had a 99-yard touchdown run in a losing effort against Wyoming on October 29th. Hillman reminds some watchers of former Aztecs phenom and newest NFL Hall Of Famer Marshall Faulk who also ran up and down opposing players in the early 1990′s.
The Ragin’ Cajuns defense will have their hands full in trying to slow down Ronnie Hillman on the ground. Both defenses will definitely work hard in this shootout of two strong squads. The two-way threat of Gautier versus the ground game of Hillman will be a spectacle. Both schools will want to put a lot of points on the board in this classic.
Football Betting Today – Packers at Bears
Jan 23rd
From the moment he was hired, Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith made it clear the goals were to beat Green Bay, win the division, and win the Super Bowl. The league’s oldest rivalry sure took an interesting turn when the Bears knocked off the Seattle Seahawks in their divisional playoff game Sunday. Now it’s Chicago against Green Bay for the NFC championship at Soldier Field, and the stakes have never been higher in a series that dates back to 1921. These teams have played 181 times, with the Bears holding a 92-83-6 edge, but they have met only once in the playoffs. That was way back in December 1941, a week after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and the Bears came away with a 33-14 victory at Wrigley Field. A week later, they beat Washington for the NFL championship.

The Bears will be at home Sunday against the Packers in only the second playoff meeting in the decades-long rivalry. Davis caught two passes for 42 yards and one touchdown in Sunday’s NFC Divisional Playoff victory over the Seattle Seahawks. He has just 10 regular-season receptions in two NFL seasons, nine of them in 2009. After Saturday night’s victory over the top-seeded Atlanta Falcons, Grant wrote on his Twitter feed that he believed the Packers were Super Bowl-bound, regardless who won the Bears-Seahawks game.
As for the Green Bay Packers, Clay Matthews is back to pouncing on quarterbacks after a late-season sack drought. Charles Woodson does just about everything on defense — and does it well. And cornerback Tramon Williams has made a decisive play in each of the Packers’ first two playoff victories. So although the Bears might have a more established defensive reputation coming into Sunday’s NFC Championship Game in Chicago, linebacker A.J. Hawk said the Packers’ defense doesn’t mind taking a backseat during the buildup this week. They will just have to show what they can do Sunday.

Road to the 2011 Super Bowl – Ravens at Chiefs
Jan 10th
Football betting handicappers will have a Kansas City team that is the best rushing unit in the NFL and also sporting a defense that is one of the most improved in football gambling.
CBS will televise the AFC wild card playoff game between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City with a start time of 1 PM ET. Sports Gambling opened with Baltimore as a 3 point favorite and with a total of 41.
Kansas City was perhaps the most surprising team in all of NFL betting as they finished 10-6 straight up, 9-7 against the spread, and with 9 of their games going under the total to end up as the champion of the AFC West. The Chiefs were the top ranked rushing team in the NFL as Jamaal Charles led them with 1467 yards and a phenomenal 6.4 yards per carry average with 5 TD’s.
Matt Cassel made a big leap at quarterback with a 93.0 QB rating and a 27-7 TD/INT ratio. Dwayne Bowe emerged as a top shelf receiver with 1162 yards and a 16.1 yards per catch average with 15 TD’s. Charlie Weiss was a success as offensive coordinator but is leaving after just 1 year and there are concerns about his mindset entering this game.
The KC defense under Romeo Crennel also showed big improvement as it ranked 11th for points allowed. Kansas City won and covered 2 of its final 3 NFL gambling matchups.
Baltimore has a record of 12-4 straight up and 8-7-1 against the spread with 9 of their games going under the total. The Ravens enter wild card weekend betting with a 4 game winning streak. Joe Flacco had a solid season at quarterback with a 93.6 QB rating and a 25/10 TD/INT ratio after an inconsistent season in 2009. Ray Rice balanced the attack with 1223 yards and the defense ranked 3rd for points allowed.
Baltimore has paid out in 4 of their last 5 football betting matchups in the wild card round. The Ravens are 7-3 against the spread in road playoff action. Kansas City is 7-2 against the spread as a dog.
Super Bowl Betting is the Most Exciting Opportunity of the Year
Jan 3rd
The football betting pointspread is the way that the sportsbook tries to even out the betting action towards both sides. As an example, in the February 2008 Super Bowl, the NFL betting pointspread was New England -12.5 points.
Since New England was undefeated the football betting public was naturally gravitating their way so the pointspread was made rather large to entice an even amount of football bets the Giants way. New England would have had to have won the game by 13 or more points to cover the football betting spread.
The Giants won 17-14 to “cover” the spread. Even if the Giants lost, they would have had to have lost by 13 points or MORE to lose the wager. For those who like to choose sides but don’t like pointspread football bets there is the alternative of the money line.
Money line football betting is where you chose the straight up winner by laying or taking odds rather than points. Another highly popular form of football betting would be “totals” also known as “over/unders”.
In that aforementioned Super Bowl odds, the total posted on the board was 54.5, which meant that the combined score would have to exceed that number to go “over”. The Giants 17-14 win combined for a total of 31, which went “under” the total.
