2011 R+L Carriers Bowl to Become a Classic
Dec 15th
The Louisiana Superdome will come to life on December 17th when the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl kicks off. The San Diego State Aztecs face the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in a battle for the championship. The Aztecs come into play with an 8-4 record and a 4-3 record in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs average 29.8 points per game on offense while allowing 24.4 points per game on defense.
The Aztecs are headed up by senior QB Ryan Lindley (2,740 yards – 52.5 completion pct – 20 td’s / 8 int – 122.9 rating). The running game is in great hands with star sophomore RB Ronnie Hillman (287 carries – 1,656 yards – 19 td’s). Hillman had a 99-yard touchdown run in a losing effort against Wyoming on October 29th. Hillman reminds some watchers of former Aztecs phenom and newest NFL Hall Of Famer Marshall Faulk who also ran up and down opposing players in the early 1990′s.
The Ragin’ Cajuns defense will have their hands full in trying to slow down Ronnie Hillman on the ground. Both defenses will definitely work hard in this shootout of two strong squads. The two-way threat of Gautier versus the ground game of Hillman will be a spectacle. Both schools will want to put a lot of points on the board in this classic.
Stanley Cup Drought Ends for Either Bruins or Canucks in 2011
May 30th
Since coming into the league in 1970, the Vancouver Canucks have never won the Stanley Cup, but now they have their best shot in franchise history.
Just a couple of years after the Canucks joined the league, the Boston Bruins won their last title in 1972, and they also have a good shot to win another one after a long drought.
But with only one team able to take home the 2011 Stanley Cup trophy, something has to give and only one team’s championship drought will end in the next couple of weeks.
Miami Heat Holds Bulls to 34% Shooting to Even Series
May 19th
One pretty iron-clad rule of the NBA playoffs is that teams can not shot 34% from the field and expect to win games in the conference finals.
Yet, the Chicago Bulls did exactly that tonight, making only 28-of-82 field goals the entire game. Their three-point shooting and free throws were off, as well.
Thus, the Miami Heat have evened the series out at one game apiece, with Games Three and Four to be played in Miami.
Miami Takes Lead and Series from Boston in the Fourth Quarter
May 12th
LeBron James needed a new team and a new location to do it, but he finally joined a team which could topple the Boston Celtics in a playoff series.
The Miami Heat were behind most of the game, but upped their game down the stretch, taking a 97-87 win and a 4-1 victory in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Celtics looked old and slow in the fourth quarter compared to the Heat during most of the series, despite leading most of the way in many of the games.
Playing the Early Position in Texas Holdem
Apr 20th
You are going to be in early position every single day that you play Texas Holdem. How do you play from early position?
If you want to keep it as simple as possible then only play from early position with aces or kings and fold everything else.
Most people won’t do and that is why most players lose when playing from early position.
How to Bluff in Online Poker Games
Apr 18th
Everyone loves to pull off a great bluff. It just makes you feel good knowing that you won without having the best hand.
Bluffing will make you look very good at times and very bad at other times. If you are good at bluffing then you usually make other players uncomfortable and that is the goal when you are playing poker.
You want the other players at the table to always wonder what you are going to do.

Wednesday night, the Houston Rockets travel to New Orleans to take on the Hornets in a game that could have important playoff consequences for the Hornets.
The New Orleans team is looking to lock in their postseason spot in the playoffs as soon as possible, and a win against Houston will be their best chance to clinch a playoff spot.
Looking at the Three Top Teams in the NBA Eastern Conference
Apr 1st
Everyone expected the Chicago Bulls to be better – much better – this year than they had been in the recent past, but no one expected them to be No. 1 in the Eastern Conference.
But what about their two chief competitors in the East right now?
The Boston Celtics and Miami Heat were predicted to lead the conference, but both are now playing for the second and third place going into the playoffs.
Elite Eight Preview – Uconn vs. Arizona
Mar 26th
The Arizona Wildcats and Connecticut Huskies come into their meeting tonight with a strong NCAA tournament history of success behind them.
Combined, they account for 18 appearances in the Elite Eight, seven in the Final Four, and three NCAA championships.
But only one team will walk out of the Honda Center in Anaheim as winners tonight.
VCU and Florida State Make it to Sweet Sixteen
Mar 21st
So, instead of a No. 3 Purdue vs. No. 2 Notre Dame game to look forward to, last night brought two shocking results from the United Center in Chicago.
And now we will all get to look forward to a VCU vs. Florida State matchup.
VCU eliminated the Boilermakers from the tournament yesterday afternoon, while the Irish fell to the Seminoles.
Lakers Look to Overcome Trail Blazers Sunday Night
Mar 20th
While most of the weekend belongs to the NCAA Tournament, there are a lot of exciting games in the NBA to watch, as well.
One of the most anticipated matchups is the Portland Trail Blazers’ trip to Los Angeles to play the Lakers on Sunday afternoon.
The game tips off at 9:30 PM EST at the Staples Center.
UFC to Purchase Strikeforce
Mar 12th
After months of negotiations, it looks like Zuffa LLC, the owner and operator of Ultimate Fighting Championship, will be buying its last real competitor, Strikeforce, which began MMA promotions in 2006.
With this purchase, UFC will be the only big-name mixed martial arts operation, although Strikeforce never became nearly as popular as the monthly UFC fights.
Thursday Night NBA – Lakers at Heat
Mar 10th
When the Los Angeles Lakers visit the Miami Heat later tonight, the contrast between the two teams will be heavy in the air.
The Lakers are on fire right now, having won their last eight games in a row, while the Heat have gone cold, dropping five straight.
Can the Lakers keep the momentum going on their road trip, or will fatigue and the Heat’s motivation to end their losing streak be the deciding factor?
Preview for Oregon State-Stanford Game
Mar 9th
On Wednesday, the Pac-10 Tournament gets started, and one of the first-round games to watch is between Stanford and Oregon State.
The game will be televised on the Fox Sports Network, and Stanford are currently slight favorites to win.
The total stands at 134.5, and this should prove to be a very competitive game.
Monday Night Basketball With Trailblazers at Magic
Mar 7th
Without their All-Star Center Dwight Howard, the Orlando Magic’s chances against the Portland Traiblazers on Monday night will be much more difficult to predict than if they were playing with a complete team. Howard will be serving a one-game suspension after being called for his 16th technical foul of the season on Friday in a game against the Chicago Bulls.
Without Howard in the lineup, the Magic are listed as the 1.5 point favorites, with the total set at 187.5. If they had their star center, the odds would be better in favor of Orlando, a team that is strong at home, and which has been enjoying a respectable run since the All-Star Break, despite a loss to the Bulls Friday night in Orlando.
Bulls Sweep Season Series Against Heat
Mar 7th
At the beginning of the 2010-2011 NBA season, who would have predicted that the Chicago Bulls would sweep the season series with the Miami Heat, and replace them as the No. 2 team in the Eastern Conference?
But on Sunday afternoon, that is just what happened, as the Bulls fought through a very close game to come out as the victors in Miami 87-86.
Best Team in NBA Easily Defeats Miami Heat
Mar 5th
After completely melting down in the third and fourth quarters of their home game against the Orlando Magic, the Miami Heat were hoping to pull out a win in San Antonio against the Spurs.
But the top team in the Western Conference and the NBA shut down the Heat and cruised to a seemingly easy 125-95 victory.
Taylor Takes Lead for Badgers, Destroys Hoosiers
Mar 5th
A major component of leadership is rising to the occasion when the occasion calls for it. Jordan Taylor is well acquainted with “the occasion” and Thursday night he proved to the country on ESPN just why he is the leader of a team that must be feared come tournament time.
With three of his teammates on the bench in foul trouble, Taylor took over in the second half and destroyed the Hoosiers hope of a comeback.
Magic Rally from 24-Point Deficit to Defeat Miami Heat
Mar 4th
Last night, the Orlando Magic were down by 24 points in the third quarter of their game. What would you expect them to do?
If you answered, “lose to an obviously better team that was beating them by such a huge margin,” you must not have been aware that the Magic were playing the Miami Heat, one of the worst clutch teams in the league right now.
Dallas Mavericks Seek Revenge Against Indiana Pacers
Mar 3rd
With starting Center Tyson Chandler out for an expected two games, the Dallas Mavericks will have to rely on their reserves to pick up some of the slack in Friday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers. Brendan Haywood is the probably starting center for the Mavericks, who are seeking to win their eighth game in a row, as well as their ninth home game in a row.
Dallas is currently playing without Caron Butler, who has been out since the beginning of 2011 with a right patella tendon injury. Butler had been scoring 15 points per game on average. Chandler had been averaging another 12.8 points and 10.0 rebounds during the previous 18 games. He has been instrumental in helping Dallas go 17-1 in their last 18 games.
Wizards Lose 15 of Last 17 Games with Latest Loss to Chicago
Mar 1st
With their 105-77 blow out win against the Washington Wizards, the Chicago Bulls have moved just 1 point behind the Miami Heat in the NBA Eastern Conference. Derrick Rose and Luol Deng each scored 21 points, while Joakim Noah put 19 points on the board. The game was an absolute disaster for the Wizards, losing by nearly 30 points at home.
The Bulls led early and never gave up the lead over four quarters of play, with Derrick Rose being a fan favorite even on the road. Chants of “MVP! MVP” were heard during the game, and the Chicago guard is a likely bet to win the league MVP this year. The Bulls are putting together an impressive winning streak, this being their third straight. They have only lost one game in the previous eight.
Knicks Deplete Bench to Acquire Billups and Anthony
Feb 25th
A day after their huge deal with the Denver Nuggets, the New York Knicks are continuing to hunt for talent to fill out their depleted reserve situation. While head coach Mike D’Antoni has already penciled in his starting line-up, which includes Stoudemire, Anthony, Billups, Fields, and Turief, team president Donnie Walsh has claimed that the Knicks are not doe and will pursue other players before the Thursday deadline. The depleted bench will consist of Shawne Williams, Toney Douglas, and Corey Brewer, with Shelden Williams likely to be the go to guy to get Stoudemire and Anthony a rest.
With the trade, the Knicks actually add much more experience, including playoff experience, to their starting line-up. Anthony will be replacing Gallanari at the small forward position, and besides his nearly 26 points per game, Carmelo also brings much more game experience, 564 starts to Gallanari’s 124 career starts. The veteran Billups, while maybe not the best fit for the up-tempo Knicks, brings nearly 865 NBA starts, which includes plenty of playoff and NBA Finals experience.
What It Will Take to Win the Super Bowl in 2011
Jan 30th
With a little less than a week until Super Bowl XLV is played between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, speculation is reaching a fevered pitch. Key players from both teams have been lost to injuries over the past season and playoffs, but both have also survived this far despite experiencing some losses and setbacks. But what will these football squads have to do to win?
For the Steelers to win, their defense will have to contain the Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Thankfully, the Pittsburgh team has one of the best defense coordinators in the league with Dick LeBeau, who is a master at dismantling the other team’s offensive line. When it comes to offense, the Steelers will have to make up for the loss of center Maurkice Pouncey, whose ankle injury we reported on here and who will not be able to play in the game. QB Roethlisberger will be looking for a third Super Bowl victory in six years, however, so will be an experienced player leading the team.
The Packers are coming off of a near-loss to the Chicago Bears, a game in which Aaron Rodgers did not perform up to his full potential. If the Bears had not lost Jay Cutler early in the game, the story may have turned out quite differently. Despite the poor last performance, though, the Packers have a number of receivers to choose from, making their offense deadly everywhere on the field. Rodgers is also considered one of the top quarterbacks in the game right now, so his leadership will be a requirement if Green Bay hopes to beat the Steelers.
So in the end, the game will be decided by which QB is more effective at leading their offense to score the most touchdowns. Both teams excel in defense, and the Steelers have been in the big game three out of the last six years, including 2011. History seems to support the Steelers – especially as the Packers have not won a game in Dallas since 1989. But the Super Bowl odds still slightly favor Green Bay to win the game.
Bet on UFC Events for the Most Exciting Fights Experience
Dec 13th
UFC betting consists of any type of wagers or bets on mixed martial arts or ultimate fighting championships. You can bet on UFC and other MMA fights at many different places on the internet, including an online sportsbook.
Ultimate Fighting betting odds are some of the newest options on the sports betting menu. Since its inception in 1993 with UFC 1: The Beginning, UFC betting has undergone many changes. Originally beginning as a “no rules” championship, over time things have evolved drastically. Gloves became mandatory, whereas in the beginning fighters would have at it bare-knuckled. There were no judges, as rounds were unlimited. Essentially, there was no way to win UFC betting matches by decision; only knockout, submission, or throwing in the towel.
